Adult Autism Assessment in Michigan
Get Clarity. Gain Insight. Chart a Better Path Forward.
Autism doesn’t always look how others expect it to. Many adults go years (sometimes decades) without understanding why they feel different. A professional autism assessment can give you the clarity you’ve been seeking.
Why Get an Autism Assessment?
In short: Because life shouldn’t feel this confusing.
Maybe you’ve been wondering if you might be autistic for a while. You’ve read, researched, and related to other autistic experiences—but something is still missing: professional insight.
Autism shows up differently in adults than it does in children.
It’s often:
- Masked
- Misunderstood
- Minimized

Without a formal assessment, it’s hard to know what’s truly going on.
If you’re feeling exhausted by social expectations, drained from masking, or just want to understand your brain more clearly, you’re in the right place.
This assessment is not about labels.
It’s about self-understanding, healing, and building a life that actually works for you.

What Can You Expect During an Autism Assessment?
A respectful, collaborative process designed to give you clarity

Your assessment is tailored to your lived experience. We explore how autism may uniquely show up in your thoughts, behaviors, and environment.

We take a curious and compassionate look at your current habits, sensitivities, and regulation strategies to better understand your nervous system.

Gain insight into how you process and express emotion. This includes common experiences among those who have autism, such as shutdowns, meltdowns, or difficulty identifying feelings.

Explore how you navigate relationships, pick up (or miss) social cues, and experience connection. All without judgment or pressure to change.

Learn how autism works on a neurological level and how it may explain lifelong patterns you’ve struggled to put into words.

Walk away with a clear picture of your strengths, challenges, and needs. Plus get a written report that puts it all together in one place.

You’ll receive tailored suggestions for future support, including therapy, coaching, accommodations, or community resources if desired.

Autism Assessment FAQs
Therapists use a combination of clinical interviews, standardized assessment tools, and a review of your developmental and personal history. The goal is to understand patterns in how you process information, relate to others, and experience the world. At my practice, this process is collaborative, respectful, and tailored to how autism may uniquely show up in your life.
To receive an official autism diagnosis, you’ll need to complete a structured assessment with a qualified provider. This includes an in-depth interview, autism-specific testing tools, and a written diagnostic report. I offer both informal and formal adult autism assessments to meet your needs. So whether you’re seeking personal clarity (informal) or documentation for work or school accommodations (formal), I’ve got you covered.
There’s no single indicator, but common signs in adults include difficulty with social interactions, sensory sensitivities, rigid routines, or intense interests. Many autistic adults also describe lifelong feelings of being “different” or misunderstood. If several of these resonate, an assessment can help bring clarity and direction. I invite you to reach out today – brighter times can be ahead with the right support.
Autism and ADHD often overlap, but they’re distinct conditions. If you relate to both, you’re not alone. Many people experience both (sometimes called AuDHD). My formal assessment includes tools for both ADHD and autism to help clarify what’s going on. If you’re asking this question, now is a good time to explore it further with a trained professional.
A full assessment includes a 1.5 to 2-hour interview, autism-specific testing tools, and a comprehensive written report. We explore your communication style, sensory experiences, routines, and emotional processing to understand how autism may be showing up in your life. You’ll walk away with answers, insight, and recommendations for what to do next.
The informal assessment is a 1-hour session designed for personal clarity. It includes screening tools and a summary letter but isn’t meant for official documentation. The formal assessment includes a longer interview, autism and ADHD tools, and a detailed diagnostic report you can use for accommodations or share with providers.
Yes. Many adults aren’t diagnosed until later in life—often because their symptoms were missed, masked, or misunderstood. A diagnosis can be incredibly validating and useful, offering a framework to better understand yourself and get the support you need.
You’ll receive your results within a few days. This will come as either a summary letter (informal) or a full report (formal). Included in the formal assessment is a follow-up appointment where I share the results with you and we review the report together to ensure it truly reflects your lived experience. I also include personalized recommendations for next steps, which may include therapy, coaching, or accommodations.
No. Because I don’t accept insurance, your results stay private unless you choose to share them. This means you maintain full control over how and when you disclose your diagnosis.
Contact me today to request your assessment. I offer online assessments in California, Colorado, and Michigan. I look forward to meeting and supporting you through the assessment process.
